Ken Arnold - Senior Director of Media Relations & Publishing

Ken Arnold serves as senior director of communications for the San Jose Sharks and Silicon Valley Sports & Entertainment, being named to that position in August 2004 with the creation of the organization’s Communications Division.

Arnold, 38, was instrumental in the creation of and continued development of SVS&E Publishing—a full-service publishing division of the organization. In addition to designing, managing and coordinating the printing of most Sharks and SVS&E properties publications and collateral material, SVS&E Publishing lists as clients, among others, the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, Santa Clara University, Raging Waters and the East-West Shrine Game.

Since joining the organization in February 1991 for the Sharks inaugural season, Arnold has also served as senior director of media relations and publishing (2001-2004), director of media relations (1994-2001) and assistant director of media relations (1991-1994).

Arnold's broad scope of duties under the Communications umbrella includes handling and overseeing the organization’s efforts in fan development (including The Sharks Foundation and S.J. Sharkie), internet services (including the websites of all SVS&E properties and sjsharks.com), coordinating the efforts of the media and public relations departments and providing leadership for SVS&E Publishing. The Communications Division was developed to bring better coordination of the various disciplines of the departments involved, rendering them collectively more efficient to achieve their objectives and goals and place them under a singular guidance.

In addition to his publishing duties, he serves as a liaison between the organization and both local and national media in all matters pertaining to the Sharks and helps coordinate all media requests for interviews with team players, coaches and management. Working closely with the team’s hockey department on matters such as player transactions and organizational themes, Arnold integrates those efforts with fan development and public relations to serve the organization’s best interests. He coordinates timely press releases, acts as creative editor for publications, helps conduct a working press box environment and assists all television and radio broadcast crews.

The Paramus, N.J., native resides in the Almaden area of San Jose with his wife and three children. He holds a master's degree in sports administration from Indiana University and came to the Sharks with a variety of experience in sports management. Arnold earned his undergraduate degree in marketing, with a minor in communications, from Fairfield (Conn.) University where he earned two varsity letters playing ice hockey.

Tony Khing - Publication Manager

San Francisco native Tony Khing has more than 20 years of experience working for and with professional sports teams as a public relations official, radio play-by-play announcer and publications manager. Khing was a public relations assistant for the San Francisco Giants and senior director of communications for the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the Continental Basketball Association.

Khing joined Woodford Publishing in 1994 and assumed managing editor duties for the Sharks and 49ers publications in 1997 and continued those responsibilities when SVS&E Publishing was formed in 2001. While at Woodford, Khing also managed editorial functions for the game day publications of the Cleveland Browns, USC and UCLA.

Khing's background also includes experience as a sports radio reporter for stations in San Francisco and Sacramento. He has also written stories that have appeared in various major league team game programs. Khing has a bachelor's degree in radio/television from San Francisco State University.
